15th Anniversary reunion - Wrexham 2 Arsenal 1

Wrexham Supporters Trust are organising the 15th Anniversary reunion of the team that played and beat Arsenal in the FA Cup Third round on 4th January 1992 on the Racecourse.

Who will ever forget that day? Football League champions visiting the Racecourse for the first ever time, and playing against a team that had finished bottom of the Football League the year before - the gap couldn;t have been wider!

Alan Smith shot the Gunners in front, and things didn't look as if they would get better after the break. However, against all the odds, that Wrexham side fought tooth and nail, and when they were given a free-kick a few yards outside of the Arsenal area, up stepped veteran Mickey Thomas to fire in that unstoppable free-kick, that is replayed every year on the TV, and is now etched in FA Cup folklore.

The the players celebrated, the crowd went wild, and Joey went barmy! No one could believe it - surely there's no way could we get a replay and take them back down to Highbury for a replay?

Then in ran super Stevie Watkin to fire the ball between in the in rushing Tony Adams, and goalkeeper David Seaman, it seemed like ages, but the ball crossed the line, and the Racecourse erupted once again!

Wrexham had beaten George Graham's Football League champions!

We have invited Brian Flynn, Kevin Reeves, Joey Jones and all that team along to celebrate the occasion; Vince O'Keefe, Andy Thackeray, Phil Hardy, Brian Carey, Mark Sertori, Mickey Thomas, Gareth Owen, Waynne Phillips, Karl Connolly, Steve Watkin and Gordon Davies.

Why not join us and relive those memories with the players who played in that game, we are holding the reunion on Sunday 7th January at the Changing Rooms Restaurant, and it costs £12 a ticket, (£10 for Trust members) which includes lunch. Tickets are obviously limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. You can buy your tickets from the Trust Shop on Mold Road, or from the club shop.
