Members' Briefing #20

wstlogosmallNegotiation News

Negotiations between the Trust and the Club's owners continued this week after they had appeared to have stalled on Wednesday. The Trust's priority is to ensure that the Club has sufficient cash to pay its bills on time, so discussions are ongoing to find a way to resolve the Clubs debts, which could facilitate a takeover of the Club.

We continue to meet with Gyndwr University to discuss a potential deal whereby they acquire the Racecourse and Colliers Park and the WST acquires the football club. Should our negotiations with both parties be successful then we anticipate being able to call a Special General Meeting in time for the start of the new season.

We anticipate making a further statement early next week.

To Twit or not to Twit:

The well known twitter, Mr Cleeve, has decided to twit again recently and declare some form of interest in negotiations. The Trust is not aware that Mr Cleeve has actually made any substantive bid for the football club or its assets since his last approach was publicly rebuffed by the owners. The recent twits have not provided any indication that Mr Cleeve has emerged as a serious bidder or for that matter as an investor with substantive funds available to act in support of his ambition to control the club and its assets. The Board will seek represent the best interests of members when considering the value added of any interested party.

Fundraising and Membership News

Membership News: The Trust are working with representatives of disability groups in the town to make good opportunities for the disabled to join and participate in the inclusive community of Wrexham Supporters Trust. This will provide an excellent platform for disabled supporters to have a voice in the future of the Trust in all its activities and help us to become m ore representative of the community we represent. It would be hoped that a successful take over of the club will help this initiative grow further.

eBay Shop: The Trust eBay shop hit its first milestone this weekend with sale of a signed Juan Ugarte shirt, kindly donated by Anglian Red,  taking the total raised above £1,000. A big thank you to Gresford Dragon for organising this and you can contact him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any items to donate - from programmes to signed shirts - for future auctions.

Saturday Stall: It was another well done to the volunteers who raised over £300 in addition to signing up new members. The Trust is keen to hear from supporters groups who may wish to take the idea forward elsewhere in the town or surrounding areas.

And finally...

Snowdon Walk œ Sunday 17 July: What a day!! A fantastic effort by almost 200 Wrexham fans who made the trip up the Miners track to the summit of Snowdon today. The walkers had to endure gale force winds, driving rain and even hail when they hit the summit!! Also a huge thank you to Terry Allen and his collie dog Ruby for their help in leading the way, and guiding everyone to the summit. We can also confirm that a Trust Member, who wishes to remain anonymous, has raised off his own back over £4,000! It was a fantastic effort and just prove s that Wrexham AFC is a club certainly worth saving. You can still make donations to support the walkers by sending a cheque payable to `Wrexham Supporters Trust' to the simple address of `Freepost WST' œ no stamp is required. You can also donate by Paypal at www.wst.org.uk at the donate link in the top right corner of our home page.
