wstlogosmallWST Board Co-opted position

We have an opportunity for a co-opted position on the WST board to support with all Red or Dead income initiatives. As you can imagine, there is a high level of current activity required for WST officers and this position will enable us to facilitate that increased workload. The post will require the management and liaison with third party marketing and promotion companies and working closely with Supporters Direct and the WST board. Ideally, the candidate will primarily have Project Management experience, but most importantly the candidate will require the energy to deliver a critical project for Wrexham FC

The length of term should be initially three to six months. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to declare your interest.

Takeover Position

Our submissions regarding our proposed takeover of the club are with the FA and Conference authorities. These submissions have been subject to detailed scrutiny and some requests for additional information relating to the agreement between the current club directors and the Trust were received at the end of last week.

Additional material was provided at that time, however further requests for information were received yesterday (Monday 24th October) which will in turn require some additional information from the directors of Wrexham 2006 Ltd. The authorities are also seeking to scrutinise contingency plans from the Trust in the event that some income streams forecast in the projections like community share income, gate receipts, season ticket sales, gold bond sales and WST membership income fail to materialise as predicted.

The Trust Board is actively working to provide answers to all of the questions being posed, whilst the FA have promised that they will do all they can to progress the matter they have advised us that it is unlikely that they will be in a position to sanction the takeover before the end of October. In order to be as prepared as possible, the WST board has been preparing for the transfer of employees as required under TUPE legislation in employment law. To this end a letter has been passed to the directors of Wrexham 2006 Ltd. as the first stage in the process of dealing with the responsibilities for the transfer of staff.

If an agreement is reached, a new interim board of directors will be working to run the club using local business people and some members of the current Trust board as we shared at the SGM in August in our Acquisition Phase. The WST has identified a number of key people in and around the Wrexham area to help as directors in this period of transition. In addition the WST is in the process of formulating a governance policy specifically for Wrexham FC and has sought input from other Trust run Football Clubs experiences and Supporters Direct to ensure the best model possible.

Upon transfer of ownership, this interim position will be replaced by an Ownership Phase as shared in the SGM which will be a fully constituted and appointed board of directors. Before this happens we will call a members meeting to bring everyone up to date and to get members to approve the final governance arrangements.

Manager Position

There has been considerable interest in the vacant manager post and recently Andy Morrell has confirmed his interest in taking the position. The process of appointing the new manager is likely to be completed as soon as possible after a takeover is completed. Andy is aware of the necessary process and has said he is keen to participate.

We have a star prize this year that everyone will want to have, and we ask all members to make every effort in selling at least two books of raffle tickets to make it the biggest raffle we have ever undertaken. It will also help the Trust immensely in filling the void that we need to achieve this season in making the club secure and sustainable. Please make every effort to sell your book for us. If you need anymore books then please call in at the club shop in the week or the Trust shop on match days. These will be available in two weeks time.

Wrexham v Arsenal 20th Anniversary Reunion Dinner

WST are hoping to organise the 20th Anniversary Dinner of Wrexham's World famous victory over the then Football League champions, Arsenal, on a never to be forgotten January Saturday in 1992. Full details of the dinner will be announced in a future members briefing.

A target of 4,000 weekly participants in the Gold Bond seems very stretching, especially when our starting point is just over 500. However, it is not many years ago that 4,000 was the regular number of entries into the Racecourse
Lottery, and it is with this in mind that we set the stretching, but achievable target.

Since those halcyon days the lottery has seen many changes, in fact it was only in February of this year that it was re-launched with Wrexham becoming part of the Gold Bond administered by Blackpool FC. There are a number of league and fellow non league clubs who are included and this brings a number of distinct advantages, including:-

· 315 weekly prizes (1 x £2000, 1 x £500, 1 x £200, 2 x £100, 4 x £50, 6 x £25 plus 300 others)
· One annual "jackpot" draw of £10,000 · 65% of takings being returned to the club with the other 35% used for prize money and administration.

We are now looking to all WST members to join, and to encourage others to join. It's a simple fact if every one of us just attracted 3 members then we have met our target.

How do I join? It's easy and quick to join. You can either pay by standing order by paying £13 a quarter or £52 a year (£26/£104 for double entries).
Alternatively why not pay by credit/debit card, at just £10 a time for 10 weeks single entries or 5 weeks double entries.

Application forms can be obtained on line at or by writing to:-
