This is an update on progress following a complaint from a group of members in relation to the arrangements and conduct of the Trust's AGM held in June 2007. The complaint resulted in the arbitration procedure provided for by the Societys rules being invoked.
Following the subsequent withdrawl of the complaint the arbitration process was aborted.

The WST Board acknowledged the concerns raised by the complainants and agreed for a review of rules and procedures in relation to the management of future AGMs and the election of board members.

To prevent the reoccurrence of such disputes in future, the arbitrator offered to provide a report to the WST board is to identify the main underlying reasons that gave rise to the dispute and to provide appropriate recommendations.

We have now received Mr Parnells report and also some additional advice and input from the Supporters Direct organisation. It is important to note that the report is not in any way concerned with apportioning blame to any individual for the fact that the dispute arose in the first place, nor does it form any part of the formal arbitration process.

Over the coming weeks, the Board will review this input and we will put together a plan to adopt and implement changes needed to improve the effectiveness of WST as a democratically controlled organisation.
