The board of the Wrexham Supporters Trust is calling on club bosses for more transparency in their plans to redevelop land surrounding the Racecourse Stadium. The call follows a well attended open meeting held in the town on Monday evening, at which Trust board members outlined their concerns regarding the development.
Those concerns included the planning application itself, the financing of the deal, the structure of the deal and the lack of guarantees regarding the clubs future.
A Trust spokesman stated;
Based on available information fans have several concerns. However there is such a dearth of information that speculation is rife, and in most cases probably unfairly so.
Last October, Mr Retout, a club director, assured the WST that once plans for the development were released then there would be complete transparency on the development. This has not happened yet and it is understandable that people are now asking questions about the project.
We would suggest that the club holds an open public meeting to address these concerns and hopefully put fears to rest. Tell us what is going on. The WST has always supported a development at the Racecourse in order to clear the clubs debts. However it is imperative that the development meets the clubs needs. We only have one chance to get it right.
