The First Steps and Initial Events
Quiz Night 16th September at Wrexham Lager Club
Some Trust members have already arranged three events, and we would like everyone, members or non-members to support these events. The first is a Football Quiz night by Pete Roberts on Friday 16th September at the Wrexham Lager Club, with all proceeds being donated to the WST.
Teams of up to a maximum of five players are invited to take part. The quiz will consist of 100 questions on varying subjects such as The Premiership, FA Cup, World Cup etc as well as rounds on Liverpool, Man United and of course Wrexham plus a 30 question picture round.
Our second fundraiser is a kind offer from K-Extreme Ltd who are launching Etape Cymru on the 9th October, 2011. They have kindly offered Wrexham Supporters Trust 15 free places to anyone who can raise over £200 in sponsorship.
This event is only the second fully closed road event within the UK and has the full support of the Wrexham Council, Denbighshire Council, Welsh Assembly Government and North Wales Tourism.
Etape Cymru is a 100-mile route (inc. over 6000ft of climbing) of stunning scenery, which starts and finishes in Wrexham and passes through the Clwydian Range (An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) taking in several well-known climbs such as the Horseshoe Pass, the Shelf, the Garth and Worlds End
Etape Cymru is done in partnership with British Cycling with all entrants not only receiving a goodie bag (inc. a gilet RRP. £20) but free British Cycling Ride membership (worth £24).
Existing British Cycle Members benefit from a discounted entry fee of just £53
Pob lwc! (Good luck!)
You can visit the events website at Etape Cymru - North Wales Largest Cycling Event for full details of the event.
Celebrating Success: Snowdon, The Three Peaks Update and Other Updates
It is also time to celebrate some recent fund raising success and to send a huge thanks to all those who organised and participated in events.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone for taking part and those who sponsored the walkers for the climb to the top of Snowdon. It was a magnificent effort by everyone, and those who did the walk, and sponsored the walkers, can proudly say that they were part of the biggest ever-single event fundraiser for Wrexham Supporters Trust, having raised so far the magnificent sum of £22,000! Thank you to one and all. Anyone with outstanding sponsorship money can you hand it in at the Trust Shop before or after any home match.
We would like to thank Trust member Terry Stott and his dog Ruby for their magnificent effort of completing the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in 24 hours, and in doing so raised over £2,000!
A big thank you also to Alan Jones of the Nags Head in Ridley Wood, who organised a band night at the pub, which raised another fantastic amount of £1,500.
Finally, anyone interested in helping out with fundraising of any kind then please come along to the Wrexham Lager Club on Monday 19th September for 7.30pm, when we hope to build up our calendar of events and activities.
