The Boards of both Wrexham AFC and Wrexham Supporters Trust would like to thank Don and Barry for the many, many hours of uncredited and undocumented work and excellent service to the club for nearly 5 years in a voluntary capacity, and their professional efforts and advice have help steer Wrexham AFC through some of the most important changes in the long history of the Club.
Don and Barry will still be at matches and functions, but now able to actually sit back and (hopefully!) enjoy the football without the pressures associated with running the day to day business of Wrexham Football Club. They will now be able also to devote their time to their own business ventures, in which we wish them well and every success in the future. They have asked us to share the following statements with you all:
'I have today tendered my resignation as Chief Executive and Football Board Director with Wrexham A.F.C. It was my firm intention to leave at the start of the season, but with a heavy workload facing us all, I was persuaded to stay on a bit longer.
Recent events with regards to performance, and the subsequent departure of our first team manager, have taken further time and as a result of that we have all now been involved in the recruitment process for a successor. That process is now at it's final stages and the announcement will be made over the next couple of days. I am confident you will be happy with the appointment and it now seems to me to be an appropriate point to move on.
May I take the opportunity to put on record my sincere thanks to my colleagues on the board and all the other wonderful volunteers and staff that dedicate so much time to the club.
My formal responsibilities may now have come to an end but you can be assured of my continued support in person, in sponsorship, and in any other way the club feel is appropriate from time-to-time.
Representing our club has been the greatest honour and privilege of my life, and I am grateful for all the support and encouragement I have received from so many of you.
Thank You all and best wishes for the future.
'I have been considering my position on the Board of wrexham football club for several months now and yesterday, ahead of a round of managerial interviews, I decided the time was right to step down.
I would like to thank those people who gave me the opportunity to represent and serve the club. It has been a privilege and an honour. I am sorry that during my time we have not achieved our ambition of promotion back into the Football League.
I would also like to thank my colleagues on the Board for the last five years for their hard work and dedication as well as their friendship. The same thanks and good wishes go to everyone else who I have come into contact with at the Club.
I may no longer be a Board member but I will continue to be a supporter of Wrexham Football Club in every sense of the word I wish everyone at the club the very best of luck and hopefully success is just around the corner.
Thank you gentlemen.
