Mike LEWIS – Candidate Statement
I have been a WST board member for the last 12 months and have been a member of the fundraising team and have helped to organise events such as the murder mystery night, Night of Thanks for the fans, the auction night and also organised the Christmas shop. This included transporting merchandise, setting up the shop, arranging rotas and recruiting volunteers. I was also involved in the organisation of the Black Friday promotions and the Super Sunday sale. I have been running the WST ebay selling page for 18 months which has raised over £2000 for the Club.
I am on the Build the Budget committee which has helped to raise over £50,000 so far. I organised bucket collections at the ground and am currently organising the Duck Race involving the Junior Dragons. I am willing to help out with all aspects of the football club to raise our profile from Junior Dragon events taking groups on a tour around the Racecourse, looking after a group who donated to the Build The Budget perk incentive by taking them to watch the team train, meet the Manager and a tour of the ground and also attending the partnership Co-Op event.
I am often called on to perform duties as Wrex The Dragon such as Junior Dragons Christmas party and the Crystal Maze Mascot Cup against Premier League teams which I hoped would raise the profile of the Club as this was shown over social media with Chris Kamara as host.
I am married with 2 young children who are now both in full time school, I work shifts so I have time available in the week where I will assist Geoff Scott with any jobs at the Club from putting stickers on Season ticket holders seats to photographing the Poppy Appeal Special Edition shirts which were sold on ebay raising over £3000 for charity.
I am a season ticket holder and attend away matches where I am often steward of a supporter’s bus. These include away trips to Dover, Aldershot and Tranmere. I am a passionate fan and my family share my passion and help out with events such as the bucket collections and the sale events.
I believe that I am making a positive impact at the Club and I am passionate about building a sustainable fans owned club for our future generations. I am keen to have Wrexham FC building links with the local community to help promote the club and also help benefit Wrexham and the wider North Wales area.
I have built up many strong relationships and contacts over the last 12 months with members, local businesses, the Club staff, fans and Directors for the Day. I feel that people have trust in me to deliver on my promises and that I am genuine, approachable and people understand that I have the best interests of the Club at heart.
I am reliable, flexible, hard working and take responsibility for tasks and I am confident in representing the Football Club and the Supporters Trust at events. I am not afraid of asking questions or raising concerns with matters discussed at the Club. I am organised and thorough and can delegate work when required or ask for advice for the benefit of the Club and WST.
I feel that I have made a positive contribution to the WST board so far and hope to continue with the projects I have started over the last 12 months along with developing new ideas to take Our Club forward in the coming years.
