I was born and raised in Mold and have carried on a long family tradition of supporting Wrexham. I even remember tales of my Great Grandfather swapping shifts at Gresford so he could watch ‘the match’ and despite recently moving to Chester (I know – tell me about it!) I remain a passionate, season ticket holding Red. In fact is it wrong of me to take such pleasure in telling my new friends and neighbours all about our results – when we win anyway!
From attending my first match over 40 years ago with my dad on the kop I have witnessed first-hand all the highs and lows (yes there have been some highs!) of our famous club. I was there to see us win promotion to the old 2nd division with a 7 1 victory against Rotherham at the Racecourse and also at Hereford to see us sadly lose our league status with a 2 0 defeat.
Now after more than 30 years in Sales and with the same company for 18 in a Key Account Role, working with one man bands to Multi-National companies I want to use the experience and knowledge I have gained to aid the Trust and the Club in any way I can. I have a consultative approach to my job and a strong work ethic and desire to ‘get the job done’.
As a result of the Trust ownership we’ve emerged from the darkest days of the ‘Hamilton era’ to become a truly community based club with stability and massive potential. Having people who are passionate and care about the club at the heart of it must be the blueprint to our future success.
My aim will be to use my business to business skills and local knowledge to realise that potential. My main role day to day is heavily targeted and is aimed to help our Clients win new business whilst at the same time maintaining our relationship and securing their Renewal. I also work with a small Team to plan my meetings and to follow up on actions I have identified and provide a Team Leading role for colleagues in other areas performing the same role as myself. So from working with others to relationship building with clients and closing business deals there are many transferable skills that will help the Trust generate revenue and build even closer ties with local companies. My position covers Northern England and also North Wales and Wrexham and I have built up many contacts in the area. Indeed I have held previous Sales roles in North Wales and had a family business in Mold and Queensferry for many years previous to that so have a real feel for the local business community and where Wrexham Football Club sits within it. I know when I was growing up Wrexham was not just a team for the town but a real ‘North Wales Club’ and I know there is untapped investment potential both in the town and further afield.
We all want continued stability off the pitch and greater success on it and I aim to play my part in achieving that.
