Tomassen Gateshead FAT 01 43Next up to sign a new contract with the club is another product of our youth policy, as Steve Tomassen agrees a deal for 2015/16.

Another to make his debut at Luton in April 2011, Steve became a regular under Andy Morrell in the 2013/14 season and appeared over 30 times that year.

He even scored at Gateshead in a 3-0 victory for the Reds and added another against Stockport County in this season's Trophy run.

Appearances this season were more limited up until the turn of the year, but over the last two months he has once again become a fixture in the squad and has now played nearly 50 times for the club.

“Delighted to have signed a new contract with Wrexham,” said Steve.

“I feel things are going in the right direction and are good at the moment.

“You have to go out and play like every game could be your last, so you have to prove yourself each week to keep your shirt. Which I hope is what I’m doing.

“It’s been a long process to the first team, over 10 years since Lee Jones signed me on as a schoolboy.

“It just shows the benefits of having the Centre for Excellence, bringing young players through and they’re doing a great job.”

Steve signed his deal this morning before jumping on the team coach to head to Torquay.
