Adam Smith Halifax 03The club’s latest signing is winger Adam Smith, who has spent the last two seasons playing with FC Halifax Town.

Those who remember these things might well recall Adam playing as a trialist for us back in the summer of 2008, but he was not offered a contract by Brian Little, following his release from Chesterfield, and moved on to sign for Gainsborough Trinity.

Adam had been with The Spireites from 2001, sitting on the bench as a 16 year-old, before making his senior debut in 2002 and eventually playing over 60 times.

Following the departure of Little and his assistant Martin Foyle from the Racecourse, early in the 2008/09 season, Adam was quickly signed up by Foyle, then the newly installed manager at York City.

From Bootham Crescent he switched to Mansfield Town in the summer of 2010, having turned down the offer of a new deal with the Minstermen, and stayed two seasons with the Stags.

A couple of loan spells with Aldershot Town came before a move to Lincoln City in 2012, but 12 months and 30 matches later he was on the move again and joined newly promoted FC Halifax Town.

Adam has been a regular with the Shaymen for two years, playing over 80 times and helping them to the Play-Off semi-finals in 2014.

The 30-year-old is certainly an experienced player, with approaching 350 games to his credit.
