WST Update – October 2019

Wrexham Supporters Trust Members Meeting

Wrexham Supporters Trust will be holding a members meeting on Monday 21st October at the Centenary Club starting at 7.30pm.

The meeting will be a question and answers session with the full Society Board of the Supporters Trust.

All members and new members who would like to join on the night are welcome.

SMART Objectives

Following on from the Annual General Meeting in June where members voted in favour of Resolution D –

“The Society resolves to introduce a system of objectives for elected members of the WST board whereby each elected board member will, within 3 months of the annual general meeting, adopt and publish on the WST website a set of “SMART” annual objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timebound) relating to their work on the board and will report to members at the following year’s annual general meeting on the progress of those objectives”

The Society Board have completed the SMART Objectives and Strategy House (operational board objectives) for this current season and publish our results with this statement.

Continuity/Succession Planning

We have also added the continuity/succession planning policy, that has been put together by the Society Board, published on the Trust web site previously, this was Resolution F at the 2019 AGM –

“The Society resolves to adopt a business continuity/succession planning policy to ensure that a smooth and seamless transition can take place if an elected society board member who is appointed to the football club board can no longer carry on in that role for whatever reason. Such a policy (to be drafted and agreed by the Society board and published on the WST website) will provide for all the elected society board members appointed to the football club board to have a “shadow” who will be an elected society board member (not currently appointed to the football club board) to learn the role and responsibilities of the person that they are shadowing.”

Jonathan Hughes’ Departure

The Society Board are sad to announce the resignation of Jonathan Hughes from the Trust Board.

Jonathan, who was elected to the Society Board at the Annual General Meeting in June said of his departure:

“I’m sorry to relinquish my position on the Trust Board so soon. It’s been an incredible insight into the work behind the scenes that the Trust Board members undertake.

“I will continue to be a fan as I have been for over 40 years and wish my fellow Trust Directors, the Club and the new Manager all the best for the future.”

Commercial Group Co-Opted Position

Following Jon’s departure, it opens up a co-opted Board position for any member of the Wrexham Supporters Trust who would like to become part of the commercial team

If any member wishes to be considered for this position please email our Secretary Alan Fox at secretary@wst.org.uk – please set out your relevant skills and experience and what you feel you can bring to the ownership and membership group and the board.

This is a great opportunity to make an important contribution to the success of Wrexham AFC with the successful applicant being in post until next year’s AGM when all co-opted positions will be reviewed.
